White Noise 1
The first edition of White Noise took place on the 10th of November 2017 inside room GH109 (later called GH111) of the Royal College of Art campus in White City.
The name of the event series came from the location of the new (temporary) location in White City. This combined with the fact that the event was going to be sound focused, noise seemed a hook to combine with White also refecening the term used in signal processing.
The move from South Kensignton wasn’t welcomed by students to say the least, one of the reasons to start running this event was to create something positive at the new campus. Above the intentons were to create a safe place for anyone to play and experiment with sound in front of an audience. From day one the idea was to remove the stress of regular concerts and performing allowing mistakes and allowing failure. The community aspect also really interested me, bringing students together in a none academic situation allowing them to get to know eachother on a more personal level. This would allow them to be more open and creative in their regular sessions.
