White Noise 15
This edition was part of the Royal College of Art final show and was the first time we ran the event on a Saturday which was complicated as university staff is not supposed to work on weekends.
The next issue we ran into was that the space we had booked, the senior commons room, somehow hadn’t been properly booked and we were not allowed to use it. With many visitors of the event already on route we decided to run the event outside in front of the Dyson building on Jaw Mews in South Kensington. This wasn’t officially arranged so it was pretty much an illegal edition of White Noise and the first time we ran the event outdoors. Barney Kass had his final project right in front of the campus building which was setup inside a small black shed. We took some speakers away from the final show inside the Stevens building and hooked things up using the electricity from with Barney’s shed. It was just written in the stars.
Doing this illegal thing right in front of the RCA had made me pretty stressed out and after many years I found out that people from higher up were heavily trying to shut things downs. Barney did a liveset and had invited a capoeira group that danced to his music and did a live performance right after his set. The evening was finished off with a live performance by Dimitris Menex using synths and the Bouzouki.
